Replacing the arms on a pair of Ray-Ban RB4246 Clubround glasses is simple: you unscrew the hinge screw with a Phillips screwdriver, fit the new arm and screw it back in. The trickiest part is handling the screw, which is very small, so a pair of tweezers will make your life much easier. We explain it step by step.
The Clubround became fashionable a few years ago and is still very popular: the brow bar gives it a distinctive touch and it goes with almost anything. Because it has lots of small parts, it is normal for one of them to break or get lost over time. The good news is that almost all of them can be replaced at home.
Before you start
Check your model
On the inside of one of the arms you’ll see the reference of your glasses, in a format such as “RB3025 001 58□14”. In your case it should start with “RB4246”. This is followed by the frame color code and two numbers separated by a square: the lens size (lens width) and the bridge width. Note down the full reference and the color: it will help you choose the arm that matches your frame.
What you need
- The replacement arm for the RB4246 (check whether it is the left or the right one).
- A 3-in-1 mini screwdriver; we’ll use the Phillips tip.
- Fine tweezers, to remove and position the screw.
- A soft cloth and a clear, light-colored surface.
How to replace the RB4246 arms step by step
- Get the screwdriver ready. Take the 3-in-1 mini screwdriver and use the Phillips tip.
- Rest the glasses on the cloth. Leave the arm you are going to replace open so you can reach the hinge easily.
- Unscrew screw 84 on the arm. This is the hinge screw. As it is very small, use the tweezers to remove it and keep it somewhere safe.
- Remove the old arm.
- Fit the new arm. Line up its hinge with the one on the front so that the holes match and the screw can go in.
- Position the screw with the tweezers. Place it in the hole and give it the first few turns carefully.
- Tighten with the screwdriver. Do it gently, until the arm is secure but opens and closes without effort.
- Check. Open and close the arm several times and try the glasses on to make sure they sit straight.
The image at the beginning of the article summarizes the steps. If this is your first time, replace one arm first and use the other one as a reference for how it should look.
Common mistakes
- Using the wrong tip. If the screwdriver doesn’t fit the screw head properly, it will damage it.
- Losing the screw. It is tiny. Work on a light-colored surface and take your time.
- Overtightening. The arm will be stiff or the thread will get damaged.
- Ordering the wrong side. Check whether you need the left or the right arm.
- Forcing the hinge. If the holes don’t line up, reposition the arm instead of pushing the screw.
Frequently asked questions
Are there compatible arms for the Clubround?
Yes. As well as the originals, we have compatible arms for the RB4246, a more affordable alternative made for this frame.
What if I have lost the screw?
In our Ray-Ban 4246 Clubround spare parts you’ll find screws and other small parts for this model.
Can I replace the lenses too?
Yes. On the Clubround, the lenses are held by a small screw on the rim. We have original Ray-Ban 4246 lenses and also a dedicated guide to replacing them.
Can I replace just one arm?
Yes, just choose the correct side when you place your order.
How to look after your Clubround
Take your glasses off with both hands so you don’t strain the hinges, keep them in their case when you’re not wearing them and check every now and then that the screws are still tight. A loose screw is the most common reason an arm ends up getting lost.
