The brow bars on the Ray-Ban 3016 Clubmaster are the upper part of the front, the piece that gives it such a distinctive look. Replacing them seems complicated because you first have to remove the temple and then the brow bar, but with a 3-in-1 screwdriver and a little patience you’ll have it done in a few minutes.
The Clubmaster is one of the brand’s best-known models and its brow bars come in many colors, so replacing them is a way both to repair a broken or faded part and to give your glasses a fresh look without buying a new pair.
Before you start
Identify your Clubmaster
On the inside of the temple you’ll see your glasses’ reference printed: the model (RB3016), the color code and the lens and bridge measurements, in the same format Ray-Ban uses on all its models (for example, “RB3025 001 58□14” on an Aviator). This information matters because the Clubmaster comes in several sizes and the brow bar has to match your lens size. Take a photo of it before you take anything apart.
What you need
- A 3-in-1 precision screwdriver.
- Fine tweezers to position or remove the screws.
- A light-colored cloth and a container to keep the small parts in.
- The new brow bars, which you’ll find in Ray-Ban 3016 Clubmaster spare parts.
Step by step: how to change the RB3016 brow bars
- Open the glasses and rest them on the cloth. Using the 3-in-1 screwdriver, remove the hinge screw and take off the temple on that side.
- With the same screwdriver, remove the brow bar screw. Don’t worry: the lens won’t fall out.
- Carefully remove the old brow bar.
- Fit the new brow bar with the front trim facing outward, seating the lens in its groove.
- Put the brow bar screw back in and tighten it without forcing it.
- Refit the temple, line up the hinge holes and screw in its screw.
- Repeat the process on the other side if you are replacing both brow bars.
When you have finished, check that the lens has no play inside the brow bar and that the temple opens and closes smoothly. If the lens moves a little, give the brow bar screw a small extra turn.
Common mistakes
- Removing the brow bar without first taking off the temple. The order matters: temple first, then brow bar.
- Fitting the brow bar the wrong way round. The front trim always faces outward; otherwise the lens won’t sit in the groove.
- Forcing the screws. They are often stiff. Instead of applying more force, use tweezers to position them or pull them out.
- Overtightening the brow bar screw. The lens has to be held firmly, but too much pressure can damage it.
- Mixing up screws. Keep each screw next to the part you took it from so you don’t confuse them when reassembling.
Frequently asked questions
Does the lens fall out when you remove the brow bar?
No, the lens stays in place while you change the brow bar. Even so, work on a cloth just in case and don’t rest the glasses on the lens.
Can I just change the color of the brow bars?
Yes, it is one of the easiest ways to refresh a Clubmaster. Just choose the color you want from the options available for your lens size.
What if I also need to replace the temples?
Since you have to take them off anyway, it is the ideal time. We have original temples for the Ray-Ban 3016 and a more affordable option in compatible temples.
What warranty do the parts have?
All our parts come with a 3-year warranty against manufacturing defects. The originals come directly from Ray-Ban: we have been a certified EssilorLuxottica distributor since 2018.
