Durable doesn't mean scratch-proof. The hard coating improves surface resistance, but we recommend cleaning the lenses with a microfiber cloth and not resting them on abrasive surfaces.
On a sun lens, an AR coating on the inner surface helps reduce reflections coming from behind or from the sides. That means fewer distractions and more comfortable vision.
Light can bounce off the inner surface and back into your eyes. The anti-reflective coating reduces that back reflection to better preserve contrast and sharpness.
Several microscopic optical layers control light waves through destructive interference. This reduces the portion that bounces back toward the eye and helps more light pass into the lens material.
When you tilt the lens, you may see a subtle green, blue or violet reflection. It's the small amount of light the coating still reflects, and its color depends on the coating design.
Important: the residual tint is normal, but on its own it doesn't prove the quality of the coating. Its effectiveness depends on the overall coating design.
