Durable doesn't mean scratch-proof. The hard coating improves surface resistance, but we recommend cleaning the lenses with a microfiber cloth and not resting them on abrasive surfaces.
On a sun lens, an AR coating on the inner surface helps reduce reflections coming from behind or from the sides. That means fewer distractions and more comfortable vision.
Light can bounce off the inner surface and back into your eyes. The anti-reflective coating reduces that back reflection to better preserve contrast and sharpness.
Several microscopic optical layers control light waves through destructive interference. This reduces the portion that bounces back toward the eye and helps more light pass into the lens material.
When you tilt the lens, you may see a subtle green, blue or violet reflection. It's the small amount of light the coating still reflects, and its color depends on the coating design.
Important: the residual tint is normal, but on its own it doesn't prove the quality of the coating. Its effectiveness depends on the overall coating design.

Compatible Ray-Ban 3138M Shooter Replacement Lenses. If the lenses on your Ray-Ban Shooter RB3138M are scratched, worn or have lost their mirror, you do not need new sunglasses. These compatible replacement lenses, cut in our workshop for this frame, give you clear vision again and let you choose the colour and treatment.
The RB3138M is The Shooter by Dolce&Gabbana, the version of the Shooter that Ray-Ban launched with Dolce&Gabbana in 2026: a metal frame with a mother-of-pearl bar. Its small size is listed as 53 or 54 mm depending on the shop: on this page it is the 54 mm option.
Look on the inside of the left temple: you should see the code RB3138M followed by the size (54 or 58 mm). The size is the number before the □ symbol, and it is the one to choose here. It is not the regular Shooter (RB3138): check that your temple says RB3138M. If you cannot find the code or it has worn off, send us a photo of your sunglasses and we will help.
You can order them tinted in green, brown or grey, in blue, pink, red or yellow, gradient, mirrored (black, ice blue, blue, green, 24K gold, purple or red), clear or photochromic. For sun lenses you can choose non-polarized, Polarized Plus, which blocks reflected light and suits driving or the sea, or Polarized Elite, which adds an anti-reflective coating. Fashion colours and photochromic lenses are only available non-polarized.
Use a precision screwdriver to loosen the screw that closes the rim and take the lens out without forcing it. Seat the new lens fully in the groove and tighten the screw again, without overtightening.
These lenses are compatible: they are cut in our workshop and are not original Ray-Ban. If you prefer the brand’s own, we have original Ray-Ban Shooter RB3138M replacement lenses. You will find more models in compatible Ray-Ban lenses.
We recommend cleaning the lenses with water and a microfibre cloth. We offer a 3-year warranty against manufacturing defects (it does not cover scratches or damage from use).
