Replacing the lenses in your Ray-Ban RB2180 can be done carefully at home. This model uses a round plastic frame with no screws, so the lenses are inserted and removed by pressure.

Before you start, make sure your sunglasses are the RB2180 model and that you are using lenses compatible with the correct size: 49 mm or 51 mm.

Recommendations before you start

  • Work on a clean, stable and well-lit surface.
  • Use a microfibre cloth or soft cloth to protect the frame and lenses.
  • Do not use metal tools directly on the frame.
  • Do not force the lens if it is not properly aligned with the groove.

Using gentle heat

Applying gentle heat with warm water or a hairdryer on low power for a few seconds may help the frame flex slightly. Do not apply excessive heat to avoid deformation.

Basic steps

  1. Hold the frame firmly without bending it excessively.
  2. Press the old lens from the inside out.
  3. Position the new lens starting from an upper area of the frame.
  4. Align the entire edge of the lens with the inner groove.
  5. Fit the rest of the lens gradually, using firm and controlled pressure.
  6. Check that the lens is fully seated, with no gaps or raised areas.
