To replace the arms on Ray-Ban Clubmaster RB3016 sunglasses you only need to remove one screw. Each temple is attached to the acetate browline by a hinge with a vertical screw: take it out with a precision screwdriver, swap the temple and screw it back in.
This Ray-Ban Clubmaster arm replacement guide was filmed in our workshop on an RB3016 in havana acetate. Below the video you will find the written steps, how to tell which temple length you need and the mistakes we see most often.
Quick summary: Ray-Ban Clubmaster RB3016 · acetate temples, 140 or 145 mm · one screw per hinge · precision screwdriver · tweezers optional.
Before you replace your Clubmaster arms
Check the model and the temple length
Look at the inside of the temples. You will see a code such as “RB3016 W0365 51□21 145”:
- RB3016 is the Clubmaster model.
- W0365 is the colour.
- 51□21 are the lens size and the bridge. The RB3016 comes in 49, 51 and 55.
- 145 is the temple length in millimetres. On the Clubmaster it is usually 140 or 145.
If you cannot see the length, measure the old temple from the centre of the hinge to the tip, following the curve. And if the print has worn off, read how to identify your Ray-Ban model or send us a photo.
What you need
- The new temples, in the length and colour you want.
- A mini precision screwdriver with a flat tip.
- Fine tweezers (optional, they help you handle the screw).
- A light-coloured cloth on the table: the screw is tiny and you will see it if it drops.
How to replace the arms on Ray-Ban Clubmaster RB3016 sunglasses
1. Remove the old temple
- Open the temple fully and rest the frame on the cloth, holding it by the browline.
- Place the screwdriver in the head of the hinge screw, which sits vertically, and turn it anticlockwise.
- Once the screw is loose, take it out with your fingers or the tweezers and keep it safe.
- Separate the temple from the hinge on the browline.
2. Fit the new temple
- Check that it is the temple for that side (left or right): the curve at the tip points down and inwards.
- Fit the hinge of the temple into the hinge on the browline so that the holes line up.
- Insert the screw from the top, with the tweezers if that is easier, and give it the first few turns by hand.
- Tighten it clockwise with the screwdriver, without forcing it.
3. Check the hinge
Open and close the temple a few times. It should move with slight resistance, with no play and without feeling stiff. If it wobbles, give the screw another quarter turn; if it is hard to close, loosen it slightly. Repeat with the other temple.
Common mistakes
- Ordering the wrong length. A 140 mm temple instead of a 145 mm one changes how the glasses sit behind your ear.
- Using a screwdriver that is too big. It damages the slot of the screw.
- Overtightening. The temple becomes stiff and the screw thread can strip.
- Losing the screw. Work over a light cloth; if it gets lost, spare screws are available in the replacement parts.
- Fitting the temple on the wrong side. Look at the curve of the tip before screwing it in.

Frequently asked questions about Clubmaster arms
Can I replace my Clubmaster arms myself?
Yes. You only need to remove and refit one screw on each side. With a precision screwdriver it takes a few minutes.
How do I know whether I need 140 or 145 mm temples?
From the number printed on the temple, usually the last one in the code. If you cannot see it, measure the old temple along its curve, from the hinge to the tip.
Can I replace only the temples and keep the lenses?
Yes. The temples are screwed to the browline and do not touch the lenses.
Are compatible arms original?
No. They are made by an independent manufacturer, without the Ray-Ban logo, to fit the RB3016 hinge.
Can I also replace the lenses or the browline?
Yes. See our guides on replacing the lenses of the Ray-Ban Clubmaster and changing the RB3016 brow bars.
