Ray-Ban RB8313 Arm Replacement: Step-by-Step Video Guide

2026-10-064-minute read
Step-by-step video: how to replace the arms on Ray-Ban RB8313 sunglasses.

To replace the arms on Ray-Ban RB8313 sunglasses all you need is a precision screwdriver. Each temple is attached to the metal front by a hinge with one screw: remove it, swap the temple and screw it back in.

This Ray-Ban RB8313 arm replacement guide was filmed in our workshop on an RB8313 with dark lenses. The video lasts 43 seconds; below it you will find the written steps, the most common mistakes and the spare parts available for this model.

Quick summary: Ray-Ban RB8313 · metal aviator · 140 mm temples · one screw per hinge · precision screwdriver and tweezers.

Before you replace your RB8313 arms

Check that your sunglasses are an RB8313

Look at the inside of the temples: you will see a code starting with RB8313, followed by the colour and the lens size (58 or 61). The temples are the same for both sizes: 140 mm.

Watch out for the RB8313M: it has an M at the end and its own original Ray-Ban 8313M arms. If you cannot read the print, see how to identify your Ray-Ban model or send us a photo.

What you need

  • The new temples, in the colour of your frame (gold, black or gunmetal).
  • A mini precision screwdriver.
  • Fine tweezers to handle the screw, as in the video.
  • A light-coloured cloth on the table so you do not lose the screw.

How to replace the arms on Ray-Ban RB8313 sunglasses

1. Remove the old temple

  1. Open the temple and hold the sunglasses by the front, close to the hinge.
  2. Loosen the hinge screw with the screwdriver, turning anticlockwise.
  3. When it comes up, take it out with the tweezers and put it on the cloth.
  4. Separate the temple from the front.

2. Fit the new temple

  1. Check that it is the temple for that side: the curve at the tip points down and inwards.
  2. Fit the hinge of the temple into the hinge on the front until the holes line up. If you cannot see the hole, hold it up to the light.
  3. Insert the screw with the tweezers and give it the first few turns with the tip of the screwdriver, without tightening.
  4. Tighten it clockwise until the temple is secure.

3. Check the hinge

Open and close the temple a few times: it should move smoothly, with no play and without feeling stiff. Adjust by a quarter turn if needed and repeat with the other temple.

Common mistakes

  • Mixing up the RB8313 and the RB8313M. Their temples are separate products.
  • Starting the screw at an angle. It damages the thread; turn the first few turns gently.
  • Overtightening. The hinge becomes stiff and the screw can break.
  • Using a screwdriver that is too big. It damages the head of the screw.
  • Working on a dark surface. If the screw falls, you will not find it.
